  • The group home must be the most appropriate resource currently available for the applicant's placement.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age prior to admissions.

  • Applicants must possess basic self-help skills.

  • Applicants must be free from medical or behavioral problems that place excessive demands on staff or other residents in the home.

  • Applicants must be capable and willing to attend a day activity program or employment outside the home.

  • PADD will receive emergency care permission by legal guardian or resident by signing consent for medical treatment and emergency medical information upon group home admission.

Applications should be submitted to PADD, Presbyterian Agency for the Developmentally Disabled, PO Box 4025, Florence, SC 29502.  Applications will be reviewed and accepted or rejected by The Admissions/Discharge Committee, as set forth in the Policy and Procedures Manual of PADD.

Cost and Financial Considerations:

The first home PADD built has been licensed as a Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF) by the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). This particular home is designed for six  women, where mental retardation is the primary diagnosis.

The current monthly cost for a resident to live in this home is approximately $1,950 month. Given the wide range of situations facing the developmentally disabled, it is difficult to generalize on the source of these funds. Most probably, the cost would be covered from a combination of entitlement programs, family gifts, and other private funding provided from churches, community organizations, foundations, businesses and PADD sponsored fund raising activities.

After completing the application, and prior to admission, specific financial arrangements to cover the cost of care will be made with the family, representative, or guardian
