Florence Home Construction
April 4, 2007: The furniture for the home is being moved in.
Each bedroom (below) will have a twin bed, double dresser with mirror, chair, and nightstand as basic items. Each bedroom also has a double wide closet.

The living room (below) will be a nice spot to entertain guests and relax.

The den (below)will also be the spot where residents will gather to socialize and watch TV.

If this is a typical family, most of the activity will take place in and around the kitchen and dining areas. Pictures are below.

March 15, 2007: The photo below shows the finished home. The PADD Board is now in the process of furnishing the home, hiring staff, and purchasing a van. We have five residents selected to move into this first home, and are seeking one more resident. Please continue to support PADD with your financial gifts and prayers as we carry this ministry forward.

February 19, 2007: The Home is nearing completion. We even have a street address. "2350 Regional Road". Note the number over the carport.

And every home needs an eficient laundry space. The carpet runners on the floor are temporary to protect the floor during the remainder of the construction. The cabinets over the washer and dryer are lockable cabinets. Each resident will have one, with their own key, for personal or seasonable items, in addition to the double closets in their rooms.

The kitchen is nearing completion. The appliances are being installed. The large white space to the left is a side by side refrigerator/freezer.

And the residents should never run out of hot water. This "flash" water heater makes hot water continuously...no need for a storage tank.

January 25, 2007: The siding and shutters have been added, and work continues on the inside: painting the interior walls, completing the installation of cabinets, installing interior doors and installing fixtures. Soon, the flooring will be installed. The house is scheduled to be completed Feb 22. Below, Anna Kearns, PADD Board member and future resident visits the site during a meeting with our general contractor.

December 21, 2006: Shingles and brick work are completed. The bare wood shown in the photograph below will be covered by white vinyl siding and trim. The home is 60% complete.

Safety is very important. The "heart" of the fire suppresant sprinkler system is shown being installed in the photo below.

(Below) Inside the home each bedroom will have two heating and air conditioning vents. One vent will bring in the air, the second is for return. This design will maximize resident comfort, and enhance safety.
November 6, 2006: The project is "under roof". In the pictures below the resident's rooms are to the left side. The front door is to the left of center under the porch roof. The two center windows are for the living room dining room combination, and den, respectively. The covered carport is to the right. Exterior Brick and roof shingles will be added within the next 10 days, depending on the weather.

Thie picture below was taken from the Pisgah Road side of the home. The parking area for guests will be next to the home on this side.

The picture below shows work proceeding on the interior. This picture was taken across the living and dining area into the den. Pocket doors will separate the two rooms.

October 26, 2006: The framing is underway!

September 28, 2006: The foundation has been poured: the home is 13% complete. Shown below on an inspection tour are Gary Stanley, VP, GARANCO; Bob Kearns, PADD Chair; Anna Kearns PADD Board Member.

The next step is to lay the block on the foundation and then pour the concrete slab. Below, Anna Kearns and Mary Caroline Vaught, two PADD board members are ready to get going!!

September 15, 2006: In the picture below note that the site has been graded, and the house staked. Anna Kearns, member of the PADD Board of Trustees and a potential resident, points to where the west wall of the house will be. She is standing in what will become the car port and parking area. In the background is the temporary office and utility pole. The rain this week slowed things down a bit.

September 5, 2006: Construction has started on the first PADD home to be built in Florence, SC. Work is expected to be complete by January, 2007. Initial work involves clearing and grading the site, and installing water pipes. Here are some pictures of the work.
