Dear Friends,
As Thanksgiving and Christmas arrive, we tend to become more sensitive to the needs of others and look for ways to offer support. One ministry I invite you to consider supporting this fall is The Presbyterian Agency for the Developmentally Disabled (PADD). This ministry is focused on improving the lives of persons with disabilities by building and operating homes where residents can learn to live as independently as they are able. Imagine a place where they can thrive in a loving Christian environment; a place where they can develop friendships; a safe place; a place they can call "home". PADD is creating this place.
PADD is a faith based, non-profit corporation which has its roots in the Presbytery of New Harmony. PADD recently completed construction of our first home in Florence, SC. This home, built adjacent to the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina, is now home to 6 developmentally disabled women, assisted in their daily living by a staff of highly educated, loving Christian women who are in the home 24 hours/day, 7 days a week . The staff is at the heart of this ministry. The ladies are coming together as a family, and are already referring to each other as "sisters". As one resident said: "I love my life in Florence".
Please consider making an end of year financial contribution to the PADD Ministry. The need for homes for persons with disabilities in SC is great and this ministry is helping. Six families have received a blessing through the prayerful and financial support of hundreds of individuals and organizations across SC and beyond. Our goal is to build more homes: the type of home to be determined by the needs of our applicants, and the availability of funding. Similar programs are developing around the state, based on the PADD model and our early successes. The Church is making a difference. Our immediate goal is to complete the remainder of a capital campaign begun in 2006 to raise $112,000. Please consider a financial contribution.
You are always invited to drop in and visit the home. The ladies love company and the opportunity to show visitors around. The address is 2350 Regional Road, Florence, SC 29501. If you are unable to come in person, visit the PADD website at www.paddsc.org to keep in touch with the ministry.
Thank you for considering PADD in your charitable giving. Have a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In Service,
Robert W. Kearns
