PADD's Vision

PADD's vision is to build homes across the state of South Carolina for mentally disabled adults. These homes will be designed to accomodate six individuals, and a resident counselor. Programs to support these residents will be made available through the local community.

The first home is being planned for Florence, South Carolina, and will be built on land donated by, and adjacent to, The Presbyterian Homes of South Carolina, Florence campus. This first home will be designed to accomodate six female adults possessing self help skills, and a resident counsellor.

PADD is a private, non-profit agency that is dedicated to providing residential opportunities allowing adults with developmental disabilities to live with grace and dignity in the community as independent as possible. PADD offers the family a peace of mind knowing their child will be cared for well into the future. In this environment of spiritual, physical, social, educational support, PADD provides residents a house that is a home.

PADD provides individuals the opportunity to progress at his or her own pace in an environment that is conducive to positive growth and development.  PADD believes in providing services which gives persons with developmental disabilities the opportunity to develop to their potential and become more self-sufficient.

PADD strives to assist the residents in developing their maximum level of independence, while enjoying the atmosphere of a loving home shared with caring staff and peers.  PADD's services address all aspects of daily living, including but not limited to, coordination of job training, self-help skills, recreation activities, meal preparation, independent living skills, and spiritual and educational opportunities. PADD will also coordinate medical interventions as needed.

Opening a home is only the beginning of the relationship with PADD and the residents and the families.  Care taking is the primary concern.  Delivering the residential services and anticipating steps to ensure a quality program for the future is of the utmost importance for PADD.
